Fourteen year old Favour Adindu is currently cooling her feet in police detention for allegedly stabbing Adanne Ochinachi Opara to death during a scuffle at their place of residence in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.
The father of the victim, Kennedy Opara, our source said had left home for a child dedication when an argument ensued between his daughter and the suspect.
The argument was said to have degenerated into a scuffle and in the process, the suspect allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Adenne in the chest.
Neighbours reportedly rushed Adenne to a nearby hospital in the area, where she was pronounced dead.
Mr Kennedy who reported the incident to police said that investigation into the matter has commenced.
“I have written my statement at the police station; they still want to get a corona form to be signed by the magistrate after which the case will be pushed to the SCIID, Panti, Yaba.
“As a result of the shock, my wife and children are not at home; they are all currently staying with my wife’s sister, who also lives in Ejigbo. I will give more details when I speak with them.” He said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the knife allegedly used in perpetrating the crime was recovered at the scene, adding that the incident was under investigation and the deceased’s corpse had been deposited in a mortuary.
In a related development, the daughter of a landlady, Tina Essi, has been arrested for allegedly beating a tenant, Christian Akparie, to death in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that Essi and the victim were arguing over electricity bill and the argument degenerated into a fight.
The tenant reportedly sustained injuries during the fight and while being rushed to hospital for treatment, died.
The PPRO on Wednesday said that Essi has been arrested.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that on January 31, 2021, an argument over the payment of electricity bill ensued between the landlady’s daughter, Tina Essi, and the deceased, both of the same address, which led to a fight.
Adejobi said that the deceased continued to suffer severe pain after the fight and later died on Saturday, February 6, 2021, around 7am, while the deceased was being rushed to the General Hospital.
