My ascendancy as NBA helmsman fulfilled prophesy – Akpata

National President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr Olumide Akpata has assured an unprecedented transformation of the association during his tenure.

Akpata who gave the assurance in Onitsha, said it was earlier prophesied to him that he would one day become the National President of the legal body.

He noted that the NBA had a responsibility to its members and to society at large, assuring that his era would uphold the rule of law and defend the right of citizens.

While applauding the state NBA for the warmth and royal reception accorded him, Akpata expressed optimism that the body under his watch would pay attention to welfare of his members, stressing that “Charity begins at home.”

He said, “Anambra NBA has shown me tremendous love. This is not the first time I have come to Anambra. Ever since I started coming to this State, nobody has ever treated me like a stranger. The lawyers here take me as their own.

“You will always hear good things about this administration because we’re commitment to making a difference.”

On the withdrawal of lawyers’ conference invitation from the Governor of Kaduna State, El’rufai, Akpata said his comments were reserved until he took over since statements had already been issued on that.
