Woman dies in Anambra accident, 10 others escape

A woman has been reportedly met her untimely end in a fatal crash that occurred at T-junction Eziowelle by Nteje-old road.

Ag. Public Education Officer for Anambra State FRSC, Margaret B. Onabe (DRC) made this known in a press release.

Onabe said that the accident happened on Friday at about 5.00pm.

She said that the crash involved two vehicles, a mistibushi L300 bus, commercial with registration number: UMZ40ZC and a Toyota Camry car with registration number: AGL360FT

The FRSC Public Education Officer said that eye witness account attributed the cause of the fatal crash to excessive speed.

The driver of the Camry according to the eye witness was on speed, lost control, entered the lane of the bus driver and rammed into the bus as both were coming from opposite direction on a single carriage way.

She said further that eleven people comprising seven male adults, two female adults, and two female children were involved in the crash.

Onabe said that eight male adults sustained varies degrees of injuries while a woman died in the accident.

The injured victims according to her were rushed to Iyi-Enu Specialist hospital, Ogidi, by First responders where the female adult was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

In another development, a tanker ladding with PMS was reported to have fell and is spilling it’s product at MCC, along Onitsha-Enugu expressway at about 7.00pm.

Meanwhile, The Anambra Sector Commander of FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi(CC) expressed his sympathy to the family of the dead victim.

He urged Motorist to always drive under stipulated speed limits and plan their journey to reach their destination on time.
